Detroit is a beautiful city with centuries of history. The people of Detroit are called “Detroiters”, with many different nationalities and religions, Detroit is a melting pot of people. The city can fit Boston, San Francisco, and Manhattan within the nearly 150 square miles of real estate. Just outside of Detroit is the largest population of Muslims outside of the Middle East. Detroit has been known historically for the mass production of the automobile. When things got heated from riots over social injustices in the 1960’s things started to take a turn for the worst. For years more and more people were fleeing the city as things became too violent. Since then, corruption and poor leadership has also ravaged the city leaving it in a desperate, broken state. Crime, unemployment, and poverty took hold and the city went into bankruptcy. At this point, things are starting to turn around and Detroit is regaining momentum. The city is no longer in bankruptcy and downtown is bustling with new jobs and companies starting to move back into the city. Detroit is still in a rough place with poverty, lack of education, and violence which is why we are glad to partner with you in sharing God’s love with Detroit.
YWAM Metro Detroit has been in the pioneering process since early 2015. We have hosted outreach teams from all over the world and thankful for the people that God has connected us with. Since we are still a new and young ministry we are still getting settled and involved in the community. We are looking forward to working with you to see miracles happen and lives change!
